Car Boot Hub is a community-first marketplace that helps people and organisations buy, sell, swap and give away items locally.
Car Boot Hub provides a platform through which members can advertise and discover items and communicate with one another.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Car Boot Hub does not own the items advertised by members, is not the buyer, seller, donor or recipient, does not inspect or verify every item or member, is not a party to agreements made between members and does not guarantee that a transaction will be completed.

Eligibility and accounts
You must provide accurate, current and complete information when creating an account.
You agree to keep your account details up to date, keep your password confidential, use an email address that belongs to you, notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission, accept responsibility for activity carried out through your account unless caused by something for which Car Boot Hub is legally responsible, and create only the number of accounts reasonably required for your personal or organisational use.
You must not create an account using another person's identity or impersonate another individual, business, charity or organisation.
We may request reasonable information to confirm your identity, age, address or authority to represent an organisation.
Children and young people
Car Boot Hub wants families and younger people to benefit from local reuse, but communicating and arranging transactions with people online can involve risks.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, operate a stall, publish a listing or enter into a transaction through Car Boot Hub.
Anyone under 18 may browse public parts of the website, but a parent or legal guardian must make enquiries on their behalf, publish listings through the adult's own account, communicate with members, agree purchases, sales, swaps or collections, make or receive payment and attend or appropriately supervise any collection or meeting.
Members must not knowingly arrange to meet a child alone or request personal contact, location or payment information directly from a child. Any suspicious or inappropriate behaviour should be reported immediately.
Schools, colleges, Scouts, youth groups and similar organisations must operate accounts through an authorised adult representative. Listings must not unnecessarily identify children or include their names, contact details, locations or identifiable photographs.
Member stalls and organisation accounts
Members may create a stall containing listings, profile information, reviews and marketplace activity.
Businesses, schools, colleges, charities, churches, community groups and other organisations must ensure the account is operated by an authorised representative, the organisation is described accurately, internal approval and safeguarding procedures are followed, personal information is removed from equipment before listing and the organisation has the legal right to sell, swap or give away the item.
Car Boot Hub may request evidence of an organisation's identity or the representative's authority.
Listings and member content
Every listing must be honest, accurate and sufficiently detailed to allow another member to make an informed decision.
You must have the legal right to sell, swap or give away the item, place the listing in an appropriate category, use photographs of the actual item wherever reasonably possible, describe its condition, defects, damage and missing parts, state an accurate price and any additional charges, clearly identify whether the item is for sale, auction, swap, free collection or wanted, give accurate collection, delivery and availability information, disclose relevant safety information, remove or update the listing when the item is no longer available and comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
You must not create misleading, duplicate or deliberately miscategorised listings, use photographs or descriptions copied without permission, use misleading keywords or unrelated brand names, advertise an item that does not exist or is not available, conceal damage, defects, safety concerns or an item's true origin, list stolen, counterfeit, illegal, prohibited or unsafe goods, manipulate bids, prices, reviews, ratings or marketplace activity, use a listing mainly to redirect members to another website, publish another person's private information or include malicious software, tracking code or deceptive links.
We may edit a listing's category or presentation, request further information, restrict its visibility or remove it where reasonably necessary.
Prohibited and restricted items
The following items and activities are not permitted on Car Boot Hub. This list is not exhaustive. We may prohibit another item where we reasonably believe it is unlawful, unsafe, harmful, inappropriate or inconsistent with the purpose of the marketplace.
You must not list firearms, shotguns, air weapons, ammunition, replica or imitation firearms, BB guns, airsoft guns, paintball guns, crossbows, explosives, fireworks, offensive weapons, stun devices, prohibited knives, weapon components, conversion kits or military ordnance. Ordinary domestic and trade tools are permitted only when listed for their legitimate intended purpose.
Live animals must not be sold, swapped, given away, rehomed or requested through Car Boot Hub. This includes dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, livestock, poultry, insects, arachnids, other living creatures, fertilised eggs and protected, endangered or unlawfully imported species. Pet food, cages, tanks, bedding, toys and lawful animal supplies may be listed if safe and accurately described.
You must not list stolen goods, unlawfully obtained property, items you do not have permission to dispose of, items with altered serial numbers, property subject to finance or ownership disputes, illegal drugs, controlled substances, prescription-only or pharmacy medicines, contaminated medical equipment, human organs, blood, bodily material or biological samples.
Alcohol, tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, vaping devices, vaping liquids, nicotine products, cannabis-derived intoxicating products and age-restricted smoking products are not permitted.
Unsafe, recalled or defective products must not be listed. This includes unsafe electrical goods, dangerous batteries or chargers, incompatible e-bike or e-scooter conversion kits, defective safety equipment, child car seats involved in a collision or with unknown safety history, used protective helmets whose safety may be compromised and items lacking legally required safety information, labelling or certification.
Counterfeit goods, unauthorised replicas, unlawfully copied films, music, games, software or books, copyright-bypass devices, unlicensed digital accounts or activation keys and content using another person's trade mark, photograph, design or written work without permission are not permitted.
Hazardous materials such as asbestos, toxic, radioactive, infectious or corrosive substances, unlawfully supplied pesticides or industrial chemicals, dangerous gases, unsafe fuel, clinical waste, contaminated materials or hazardous waste are not permitted.
Food and drink may only be listed where Car Boot Hub provides an appropriate category and the seller complies with food-safety, hygiene, labelling and business-registration requirements. Food past its use-by date, open or contaminated products, unsafe storage, recalled food, undisclosed allergens and alcohol must not be listed.
You must not list passports, driving licences, identity documents, bank accounts, payment cards, personal records, confidential documents, school, college, medical, employment or care records, mailing lists, databases, regulated financial products, crypto currency or financial accounts.
Other prohibited items include human remains, grave goods, obscene or unlawful sexual material, hate material, terrorist or violent material, lottery or gambling services, recalled or unapproved cosmetics, used underwear listed in an inappropriate or sexualised manner, lock-picking or security-bypass equipment promoted for unlawful use, meter-interference devices and services involving criminal, deceptive, exploitative or unsafe conduct.
Buying, selling, swaps, free items and wanted posts
Members are responsible for deciding whether to enter into a transaction.
Before agreeing a transaction, members should read the listing carefully, ask relevant questions, check the item and the identity of the other party where appropriate, agree the price, payment method and collection or delivery arrangements, keep a record of important communications, avoid advance payments through unfamiliar methods and stop the transaction if something appears suspicious.
Prices, offers, bids, swaps, collections and payments are agreed between members unless Car Boot Hub expressly provides a managed payment feature. For free items and swaps, members should make clear what is being offered or requested.
When members agree a sale, swap or giveaway, the resulting agreement is normally between those members. Car Boot Hub is not responsible for performing that agreement.
Ownership must not be transferred until the parties have agreed the relevant terms and any required payment has been made.
Wanted posts should describe what is needed honestly and should not be used to pressure or mislead other members.
Auctions, bids and offers
Where auction or offer features are available, a bid or accepted offer may create a commitment to complete the transaction.
Members must only bid or make offers when they genuinely intend and are able to proceed. Sellers must not bid on their own listings, arrange for another person to inflate a price, manipulate the result or falsely claim that a higher offer has been received.
Car Boot Hub may cancel or correct an auction affected by an error, technical failure, manipulation or prohibited activity.
Business sellers and consumer rights
A member acting for purposes relating to their trade, business, craft or profession must identify themselves as a business seller where required.
Business sellers are responsible for complying with consumer-protection laws, including providing any required legal or trading identity, geographical business address, contact information, accurate pricing and delivery information, cancellation and returns information, statutory rights information and required licences, registrations or safety details.
Nothing in these Terms removes or limits a consumer's statutory rights. Private sellers must not falsely present themselves as private individuals to avoid responsibilities that apply to businesses.
Payments and fees
If Car Boot Hub introduces paid services, listing fees, subscriptions or payment processing, the relevant price and conditions will be displayed before a member commits to payment.
Members are responsible for fees, taxes and other charges arising from their transactions. Payment services may be provided by an independent payment processor and additional payment-provider terms may apply.
By purchasing a paid feature, subscription or upgrade through Stripe or another payment processor, the member confirms that they have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions and any clearly stated checkout terms shown before payment.
If a refund is issued, payment processor fees from the original transaction may not be returned to Car Boot Hub and may therefore be deducted or retained where permitted by law and these Terms. Refund requests will be considered fairly, but trial periods, already-used paid periods, misuse and fraud concerns may affect eligibility.
Card disputes, chargebacks and manually countered disputes may lead to additional payment processor fees. Where a member causes a dispute or chargeback in breach of these Terms, Car Boot Hub may take that into account when deciding whether to refund, suspend paid features, recover losses or restrict further use of the service.
Car Boot Hub may delay, cancel or refund a payment where required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate suspected fraud. Members must not use payments for money laundering, cash advances or transactions unrelated to a genuine listing.
Collection, delivery and personal safety
Members are responsible for arranging collection or delivery safely. Car Boot Hub does not supervise meetings, collections or deliveries and cannot guarantee the behaviour of members.
When meeting another member, consider meeting in daylight and in a safe, public place, tell a trusted person where you are going, do not attend alone if you feel uncomfortable, do not enter another person's property unless necessary and you feel safe, inspect the item before handing over payment, avoid carrying large amounts of cash, leave if the situation appears unsafe and contact the police in an emergency.
Do not publish a full home address in a public listing. Share exact collection details privately and only when necessary.
Pro Stall and paid features
Pro Stall and other paid features may provide enhanced listing, branding or dashboard tools. Payment terms, duration, renewal, trial and expiry details will be shown before purchase or activation.
You remain responsible for your listings and communications when using paid features.
Safety and conduct
Members must use Car Boot Hub respectfully and lawfully. You must not harass, threaten, abuse, discriminate, scam, mislead, groom, exploit or endanger another person.
Keep communications inside Car Boot Hub messages where possible, check items carefully before agreeing collection, never share passwords or verification codes, and report suspicious or unsafe activity.
Messages, reviews and community conduct
Messages should be used for genuine questions and arrangements about listings, stalls, services or community posts. Reviews must represent a genuine experience and should be factual, relevant and fair.
You must not threaten, abuse, harass or intimidate another person, use discriminatory, hateful, obscene or sexually inappropriate language, send spam, request unnecessary personal information, attempt to move a suspicious transaction away from Car Boot Hub, send fraudulent links, publish false or retaliatory reviews, pressure another member, exploit a vulnerable person or engage in grooming or inappropriate contact with a child.
We may review messages where reasonably necessary to investigate reports, prevent fraud, protect members, enforce these Terms or comply with the law.
External links
Listings and messages must not be used primarily to advertise or redirect members to another website.
We do our best to identify and remove unauthorised, suspicious or inappropriate website links. However, member-generated content may be published or changed quickly, and it may not always be possible to detect or remove every link immediately.
Car Boot Hub does not control external websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, products or privacy practices. Members should take care before following a link or providing personal or payment information on another website.
Suspicious or inappropriate links should be reported to us.
Reporting listings and members
You can report content or conduct that appears to breach these Terms.
When making a report, provide accurate information and any relevant evidence. You must not knowingly submit a false or malicious report.
We may investigate the report, request further information, remove or restrict content, warn, restrict, suspend or close an account, preserve relevant records or refer the matter to a payment provider, regulator, safeguarding organisation or law enforcement body.
For privacy and safety reasons, we may not be able to disclose every action taken following a report.
Moderation and removal
We may use manual and automated measures to identify content or activity that may breach these Terms.
We may reject, edit, restrict, hide or remove any listing, message, review or other content where we reasonably believe that it breaches these Terms or the law, creates a safety, fraud or security risk, infringes another person's rights, is misleading, inappropriate or irrelevant, removal is requested by a competent authority or action is needed to protect Car Boot Hub or its community.
The fact that content has not been removed does not mean Car Boot Hub has inspected, approved or endorsed it.
Account restrictions and closure
You may stop using Car Boot Hub or request account closure at any time, subject to unresolved transactions, investigations or legal retention requirements. You can also close your account from the account settings page.
We may warn, restrict, suspend or close an account if these Terms have been breached, false information has been supplied, the account creates a risk to another person, fraudulent, illegal or abusive activity is suspected, a member repeatedly publishes prohibited content, the account has been created to avoid a previous restriction, we are required to act by law or a competent authority, or continued access could harm the operation or reputation of Car Boot Hub.
Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide a way to ask us to review the decision. We may act without advance notice where urgent action is required to protect people, evidence or the service.
Content licence
You retain ownership of photographs, descriptions and other original content you publish. By submitting content, you give Car Boot Hub a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, display and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate and promote the marketplace, display your listings, improve search and accessibility, prevent fraud and retain appropriate evidence.
This permission ends when the content is deleted, except where continued retention is reasonably necessary for legal, security, back-up or dispute-resolution purposes.
You must have the right to use all content you upload.
Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep Car Boot Hub available and operating properly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
We may repair, maintain or update the service, add, change or remove features, limit access to protect security or performance, correct technical, pricing or listing errors, or discontinue part or all of the service.
We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes where practicable.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or breach of statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful. Subject to those protections, Car Boot Hub is not responsible for the existence, ownership, quality, legality, safety or condition of a member's item, the accuracy of a listing, a member's conduct, or loss arising from a transaction between members.
Car Boot Hub is not responsible for content or services provided by an external website, loss caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, or business losses suffered by someone using a personal account.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for your use of Car Boot Hub, your listings, your communications and the transactions you enter into.
You may be responsible for reasonable losses or costs incurred by Car Boot Hub as a direct result of your unlawful conduct, deliberate misuse of the service or serious breach of these Terms.
This does not require a consumer to compensate Car Boot Hub for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable or were caused by something for which Car Boot Hub is responsible.

These documents form part of the rules governing your use of Car Boot Hub.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the service, new features or marketplace risks, legal or regulatory requirements, or changes to our business or security practices.
The latest version will be published with its revision date. We will provide reasonable notice if a change materially affects existing members.
Continued use after the change takes effect will be treated as acceptance where legally permitted. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using the service and close your account.
General legal provisions
If any part of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
A delay in enforcing a right does not mean that the right has been waived.
You may not transfer your account or your rights under these Terms without our permission. We may transfer our rights and responsibilities as part of a sale, reorganisation or transfer of Car Boot Hub, provided this does not reduce your legal protections.
These Terms, together with the policies referred to in them, form the agreement between you and Car Boot Hub concerning use of the service.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory protections provided by the law of the country in which you live.
The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, although consumers may be entitled to bring proceedings in their home jurisdiction.
